Our organization is a non profit 501 (c) (3) corporation operated entirely by volunteers.
In the past we received close to $80,000 a year in grants from the town of Phillipsburg, $50,000 directly and about $30,000 in support ( advertising, busses, garbage etc.)
Due to cuts enacted by the Governor of New Jersey, the Phillipsburg Urban Enterprise Zone will no longer be able to help fund our operation. Our railroad is important to the revitalization efforts of Phillipsburg's Urban Enterprise Zone, as last year we drew over 60,000 visitors to the town.
On top of this during our inspection / tear down of the locomotive we found out that the boiler tubes were wearing out much faster than we had expected.
All 96 must be replaced at a cost of over $30,000.00.
Even in these tough economic times we are still committed to growing our operation. With our arrival at mile 43 we will be adding yet another attraction to the line, Pinchers Point Beach. There is a beautiful point in our line where the Delaware River literally almost double backs on itself, this is Pinchers Point. We have plans to build a beach and picnic grove on this site for our patrons use. Canoe and Kayak services will also be added where you can take the train one way and canoe the other!
If you can make a donation we sincerely appreciate it.
We are lucky to have so many wonderful families support what we do.
