PROJECTS UNDER WAY
Updated 5-28-2023
Steam Engine 142 15-Year rebuild
501 is an ex-LIRR car from the World's Fair order of 1962 and differs a bit from our other late 50's cars. Both vestibules need to have the deck and other steel replaced from wintertime over-salting. Additional work includes new windows and interior estetics plus new seats to make it a first class car that will normally be the wine car.
500 TLC and additional paint
OTHER PROJECTS
1705 is a Comet I car. It has been stripped inside awaiting floor and electrical work before moving the snack bar inside
M-1 needs the snack bar removed, the floor finished (tiles) and seats installed plus a series of mechanical issues to make it operational again
All coaches are getting exterior paint jobs. The Bi-levels and power car 33 are getting the 1937 "Kidde scheme" of Stevens Institute red and gray while the LI cars are getting the 1943 "Norton scheme" of all red. All cars also get black ends and silver roofs.
Additional information can be found on the Departments/Mechanical page
